I also got a migraine at some point (not the fault of this blog, though), but I finally decided to add my 2 cents. I believe that the people who made this should try to be honest with themselves and consider their reasons for starting this campaign. Is it REALLY because you feel the writers need to know that there are people out there who support their approach to Supernatural? Or is it rather some petty animosity provoked by the fact that you feel threatened by the character of Castiel and the simple fact that he has fans, too? It’s a fact the character was part of the show for more than 3 seasons; he even was a regular, meaning he was part of the main cast, right behind Sam and Dean. It was the writers’ doing, not the fans’. And it worked. So of course Castiel has fans who watch the show because of him. I went through some of the reblogs and noticed a lot of the people supporting this are Sammy-fans. Judging from your reblogs, I’d say that Sam’s character is part of the fun for you. So how’d you feel if he got written off the show, without the option of ever returning? We all know it won’t happen, of course, but just try to consider the scenario. And that’s exactly how a lot of Castiel-fans feel right now. I am not a particularly big fan of Sam, but I don’t hate on him, I don’t bitch about him, and I don’t go to the Sam-tag, mainly because I am not really interested in the character. So if you’re not interested in Castiel, why can’t you just leave people be? And that’s the part I really don’t get: This is something we do for fun in our free time. Right? I don’t know how old you are, what your background is, and whether you have more time on your hands than I do, but when I log into Tumblr, I go to the tags I like. For fun. And entertainment. I don’t go to tags I dislike, read posts never aimed at me, and then act offended for no apparent reason. But then, that’s probably part of the fun for you. The show won’t get cancelled because of Cas-fans voicing their love for the character. Well, maybe the ratings will suffer a little bit if he actually leaves for good, considering a lot of casual viewers liked him, too. However, if the show will get cancelled in the end, it will be for a variety of problems connected to the lack of a compelling story arc. The character deaths in season 7 are certainly part of the disease, but they are merely symptoms, not the cause. You are totally entitled to like season 7 and where the writers are taking the show. But you also have to accept that others don’t. And it’s really not just the Cas fans. You’re merely making them the scapegoat for something that is really not their fault, but the result of the kind of writing you’re claiming to support with this campaign. Finally, I think it’s totally ridiculous this petty and insulting blog directs its hate against a fun campaign that adopts GISHWHES-like methods to show their appreciation for Castiel. As I see it, Castiel fans are sad and angry, but still creative and supportive of the show as a whole. They are neither harming the fandom, nor the cast or the executive team. And, most importantly, they are not harming you or your favourite characters. ^ Read this. Can’t we all just get along? We all love Supernatural, that should be all that matters.
